The Taawon STEM Enabled School Program is now fully underway, delivering a boost to STEM education in Palestine across 18 elementary schools. Launched in February 2025, this transformative initiative is a collaborative effort between Taawon, Omnia Education Partnerships (OEP) from Finland, and the Palestinian Ministry of Education, with support from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development.

Designed around a research-informed, context-specific model, the program promotes innovation, sustainability, and collaboration in primary STEM education. It empowers Palestinian educators and school leaders with the tools, knowledge, and pedagogical strategies necessary to create inclusive and dynamic learning environments in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Since its launch, the program has achieved several key milestones:

  • A formal launch event that engaged school communities, Taawon representatives, and national stakeholders to align on shared educational goals.
  • Completion of the first phase of professional development workshops, focused on instructional leadership, interdisciplinary teaching, and integrated STEM pedagogy for pioneering teachers and school leaders.
  • Strategic alignment with the Ministry of Education’s national STEAM team, ensuring consistency with national education policies and long-term sector development.

Central to the program is a professional learning pathway created by OEP and Taawon. This pathway includes modules aligned with EU-recognized Specialist Vocational Qualifications, accredited by the Finnish National Agency for Education, providing a benchmark for high-quality STEM teaching and leadership.

The initiative draws on Finnish education expertise and OEP’s global experience to introduce a scalable, holistic model for STEM education in Palestine. Key components include capacity building, enhanced learning environments, and an international study visit to Finland, establishing a foundation for lasting educational impact.

Additionally, the program complements national efforts like SERATAC and supports the Palestinian education sector’s strategic goals: improving learning outcomes, fostering innovation in teaching, and advancing educational inclusivity.

As the program advances through 2025, participating schools will become regional hubs of pedagogical innovation, sparking positive change across the educational system. With this integrated, collaborative approach, the Taawon STEM Enabled School Program is poised to significantly shape the future of STEM education in Palestine, preparing a new generation of critical thinkers, innovators, and problem-solvers.
