Omnia, the Joint Authority of Education in the Espoo Region, Omnia Education Partnerships (OEP) Ltd. and Bordeaux Al-Khaleejiah signed a partnership agreement on November 2, 2017. The agreement focuses on mutual business activities in Kuwait. The goal is to launch vocational qualification programs in Kuwait.

Why Finnish TVET qualifications?

Within the OECD, Finnish TVET has the best completion rate and has over time built an excellent image as well as flexible co-operation models with companies. The qualifications are of level 4 and 5 in the European Qualifications framework. Graduates can continue their studies at a university level or enter the job market.

“Omnia has always had a strong international orientation, however the partnership with Bordeaux Al-Khaleejiah adds a comprehensive international dimension to all of our activities,” states Sampo Suihko, General Director of Omnia.

Bordeaux Al-Khaleejiah and OEP, the commercial arm of Omnia, will in the coming months determine what qualifications best serve the Kuwaiti market and how the Finnish model needs to be localized.

“Finnish vocational education has many strengths. It is competency-based, flexible, and follows national-level curricula, developed together with industry partners. We are looking forward to learning about the Kuwaiti market and developing models that will lead to long-term partnerships in Kuwait,” says Mervi Jansson, CEO of OEP.
