OEP is promoting the integration of sustainable development into Finnish vocational education and training through the VET4SDG programme. VET4SDG is an expert level training programme for Finnish VET teachers and managers focusing on sustainable development goals in vocational education and training.

The VET4SDG programme is funded by the Finnish National Agency for Education. Sustainable development is one of the key elements in Finnish vocational education and training. The VET4SDG program focus on sharing good practices for achieving SDGs in the everyday work of VET institutions and giving Finnish VET teachers and managers concrete tools for analyzing and measuring the extent to which SDGs have been met in their sector or institution. OEP is currently running the second VET4SDG programme.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
